On 30th October 2026, Orezi released "Get This Money", and in a conversation with PINCHED the same day, he made clear the song is only the start. The single takes him back to the mindset he had years ago, when he wanted everything. Next comes an album that is ready for December, after a long wait in which the release slipped from last year to September and then to March this year. After that come a university tour across Nigeria, shows in the UK, Europe and America, and a promise to release a new album every year for the next five years. Here is how he sees the road ahead.
"Get This Money": The Single Behind the Next Chapter
The new single is a return to a mindset. "Get This Money is like a deja vu to me, because it's the mindset I was in a couple of years ago, where I was hungry," Orezi said. In those days he wanted everything: the money and the fame. He feels the same way now.
The title is a plan as much as a hook. Chasing a big dream costs money, because collaborations, PR and promotion all have a price, and the single is where that starts. He describes it as the beginning of a journey of years. The money, he explained, does not have to be literally his own. It could come from a partner who has it. What matters is getting it, by any means that helps the dream come alive.

The Album That Kept Slipping
The album is finished, and Orezi was open about why it took so long. He has been in the studio for a long time, and he went through doubt, a loss of confidence and procrastination, wondering whether people would love it. The album was due last year, was moved to around September, and then pushed to March this year. At one point he put the question to himself directly: did he want to release this music or not?
His answer is that fans deserve more from him, and that the listeners should decide. "Let the fans decide," he said, "if they love what we're doing or we have to go back to the drawing board." The release is set for December.
There are two collaborations on it. One is with an artiste from Cameroon. The other is with a veteran from Delta State, on a special song for his Delta people that uses a sound he has never explored before. He said collaborations were hard to come by this time, with timing and availability getting in the way, and he would have been happy to do the whole album alone.
December, January and Beyond
December is for shows, and he will be performing at several. After that, the plan is a Nigerian university tour, which he intends to announce in January, to get in tune with Gen Z. The album will be out and available by then, and the full promotion begins in January. He wants to let it sink in for three to four months before the tour starts, then take it across Nigeria. He also plans to tour the UK, Europe and America next year, and to hold a one-night music event in 2027.

Five Albums in Five Years
What comes next is simple to state. "I plan to make sure I don't stop my fans anymore," Orezi said, "because I realised that I have stopped my fans for too long." His catalogue, he said, is not where he wants it to be, so he is playing catch up. He will release an album every year for the next five years, to give the world everything he has before he decides to hang up his boots.
Showing Up Online
The change he promises is in how he works with his audience. Orezi described himself as shy and lazy about social media, and said he did not always give music marketing the creativity it needed. Part of it, he admitted, was feeling too big to copy what younger artistes were doing. That has changed.
He has said he will shoot content, follow the trends and post new content every day, including on TikTok. He has never gone live on TikTok, and his last Instagram live was around two years ago, but he is ready to start. "I'm willing and ready to explore and get in tune with them," he said. "I'm going to be available."

From Lagos, and the First of Five
People often place Orezi in Isoko, Delta State, where his roots are, but he told PINCHED he did not grow up there. He grew up in Lagos, and as the first of five children he learnt early to step up as a leader, looking out for his siblings and doing what he could. Music and an active social life came with that, and he was already the outgoing one in the house.
His secondary school years were in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where he was made the social prefect, a role that suited a young man who liked people and liked being around them. He then went to the University of Lagos, where he studied urban and regional planning, and where he met people who would later become familiar names in Nigerian entertainment, including Tunde Ednut and Wande Coal.
One Man, Several Names
Fans know him as Mr Raggamofin, and he explained that it is only one side of him. Mr Raggamofin belongs to his Afro dancehall sound. Alhaji Orezi is another side, which came with different music and a different mood. Each name arrived with the songs that introduced it, and as those songs blew up, the name stuck, so that people who met him through one record knew him by one name and people who met him through another knew him by the next.
It is a useful way to read a catalogue that moves between dancehall, Afrobeats and reggae. The Chocolate Daddy EP, released in 2023, sat in one of those lanes. His 2025 single "Zuzu" sat in another.

Moving With the Sound
Orezi has been making music since 2009, and the sound of Nigerian music has changed several times since then. He said he has not fought that. There were times when people told him that what he was doing was no longer what was trending and that he needed to pivot. He listens, does what he can, and adapts. He does not think about it too much.
Part of what helps is that he listens widely. He knows what other artistes are releasing, he knows what people are bringing, and he recognises and appreciates the work. That habit, he said, is what has kept him moving and evolving.
What Makes a Collaboration Right
Orezi has worked with names such as Davido, Wizkid, 9ice and Tekno, including on The Ghen Ghen Album and on Whine for Daddy with Tekno. His test is simple. A collaboration has to line up with what he wants to do. When he makes a record and has a vision for it, he takes the idea to someone, and if they see what he sees, they work together. There are no long conversations.
Why He Built Ghen Ghen Music
When Orezi went independent in 2016, he wanted his own label. "I wanted to be able to do everything on my own terms, release my music," he said. "I didn't want to be under anybody at that time."
The name came from his own slang. Ghen Ghen is the word fans heard from him in interview after interview, so a record label under that name felt natural. Ghen Ghen Music is still the label his songs are released under, and he has described it as a company for himself and for upcoming artistes.
What He Wants From the Industry
PINCHED closed by asking what Orezi needs from the industry, from fans or from stakeholders, to make this vision real.
His answer was support. He said many of the older generation of artistes do not get much love, and that he has heard the advice to give the younger ones space. His reply is that there is space for everybody, and that radio, television and streaming platforms should give every artiste a fair chance instead of prioritising some and neglecting others. In America, he pointed out, Kanye West and Drake are still among those leading the music, and nobody tells Drake to step aside. Hearing that kind of thing, he said, happens only in Nigeria.
He also put some of the responsibility on the media. Looking out for artistes who have been around, he said, is part of the job, the same way he listens to everyone as an artiste, checking new music on Apple Music daily and listening to everybody. It is a two-way street.

One Lie About Orezi
Asked for one truth about himself that nobody knows, he declined to give it. The lie he wanted to correct was that he is an introvert. He comes out a lot, he said, he just does not appear on camera. These days he goes out less than he used to. He is a sucker for tea and a self-described TV addict who, whenever he is not in the studio, is watching a series or a movie.
More From PINCHED
Orezi's account of doubt behind a finished album echoes PINCHED's earlier conversation with the artiste Juno, who described music as expression. PINCHED has also explained how fans can give a pinch to support African creators directly.
