The New DStv and GOtv Packages Are Live: What Each Tier Costs and Where Your Movies Land

If you watch movies on DStv or GOtv, your package may have changed names this week. The new line-ups started rolling out on 5th November, replacing the old Access, Family, Compact and Compact Plus tiers with four simpler ones: Starter, Select, Sports and Premium. The movie channels have been reshuffled along the way, and the price you pay depends on which tier you land in.

The Four DStv Packages and What They Cost

DStv now has four monthly tiers:

• Starter: ₦6,000, with Africa Magic+ and the best of La Liga and the Premier League on SuperSport KICKOFF.

• Select: ₦11,000, aimed at households that want movies, local and international series, children's channels and some sport.

• Sports: ₦21,000, with every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, combat sports and the entertainment channels from the tiers below.

• Premium: ₦44,500, the flagship tier that adds Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis, golf and the full M-Net line-up.

GOtv Now Has Four Tiers Too

GOtv's four packages are Starter at ₦4,000, Easy at ₦6,000, Select at ₦11,000 and Sports at ₦21,000. Select is the movie-minded one, with M-Net Movies+ alongside news and sport channels.

Where the Movie Channels and Africa Magic Land

This is the part that matters if you watch films more than football.

Africa Magic Family has become Africa Magic+, the home of local and international drama, and it now sits in Starter. DStv's own channel notes spell out the movie changes:

• Movies 1 and 2 merge into M-Net Movies+, which carries blockbusters within a year of their cinema release.

• M-Net Movies 3 becomes M-Net Movies Stars.

• M-Net Movies 4 becomes M-Net Movies Legends, available from Starter, and brings blockbusters six months earlier than before.

• M-Net Movies+ moves from Premium down to Select.

The stated aim is fewer, stronger channels with fewer repeats, so some channels are closing or merging.

What Happens to Your Current Subscription

You do not need to do anything. Existing customers are moved to the new tiers automatically, in phases, and no new decoder is needed. On the old-to-new map, Access moves to Starter, Family to Select, Compact to Sports and Compact Plus to Premium. Your account may keep showing the old package name for a while, but the new channels arrive anyway. If you have prepaid for several months, you keep your current package until that period ends.

To check where you have landed, use the MyDStv app, DStv's WhatsApp self-service line, the website or DStv Customer Care.

Streaming After Showmax

Showmax closed on 30th April 2026, so DStv Stream is the streaming route for now, with packages starting at ₦6,000 a month. A new streaming product is under review, with no launch date announced. New customers who want a decoder can get the decoder, kit and a month of entry-level service for ₦15,000.

Cinema Is Still Where Nollywood Premieres

With blockbusters now reaching M-Net Movies+ within a year of their cinema run, the cinema release is still the first date that matters for a new film. Loving Itohan opens in cinemas on 6th November, and Nigeria's Oscar entry Dear Ajayi goes wide on 13th November.
