Wizkid Opens Detty December Fest 2026: Dates, Ticket Prices and What We Know So Far

Lagos has not even entered the "ember" months yet, and the Detty December noise has started. Wizkid will headline opening night of Detty December Fest 2026 on Friday, December 18, and tickets are already on sale. He is also reportedly set to perform in Abuja as part of the festival, so the party will not stay in Lagos alone. So, if you plan to be in Lagos or Abuja for the festive season, this is the festival to watch.

Detty December Fest 2026: The Key Details

• Dates: Friday, December 18 to Wednesday, December 30, 2026 (13 days)

• Location: The Detty December Village, Lagos, Nigeria

• Organiser: Livespot360

• Opening night: Wizkid, Friday, December 18, at 6 PM

• Stages: The Detty Festival Stage and the new Detty Pulse Stage

No 2026 street address has been published yet. Also, the ticketing banner reportedly lists December 18 to 31, so some outlets give a different end date. For now, the official festival page and most reports say December 30.

Why Wizkid on Opening Night Is a Big Deal

Wizkid is one of the biggest names in Afrobeats, so an opening-night slot sets the tone for the whole festival. He was announced as the festival’s first headliner back in August, so the news has been building for weeks. He will headline the main Festival Stage, while a new Pulse Stage will showcase emerging artists.

He also knows the Lagos December crowd well. At last year’s GTCO end-of-year party, he performed songs from his Morayo album alongside older hits. So, expect a mix of new music and the classics fans sing word for word.

Detty December Fest Tickets and Prices

Opening-night tickets are sold through DOT TIX in naira, and value added tax is added at checkout. The reported prices are as follows, according to The Rio Times.

• General access: ₦50,000

• Golden circle: ₦150,000

• VIP standing: ₦300,000

Tables are booked by request instead of being sold online. Meanwhile, the official festival site describes day passes, weekend passes and VIP or VVIP packages, but the Detty December Fest website shows no prices for them and says sales open soon. So, treat any other price you see online as unconfirmed.

Also, be careful where you buy. Fake ticket pages tend to appear when a big name is announced, so buy only through the links on the official page.

Who Else Is Performing?

Beyond Wizkid, the confirmed list is short. The Rio Times names the Detty Drummers on December 19, the Aerial Ballerinas on December 24 and Lagos Strings, a live orchestra, on December 25. Four announced dates are still blank.

The organisers do promise more. Reports say five lineup reveals are planned, with more names coming through November 2026. In addition, the festival page claims “300+ performers”, though only Wizkid is named so far. That figure is the organisers’ own claim, so wait for the actual lineup before you plan around it.

What to Expect at the Village

The festival page describes more than concerts. It lists a Detty Boulevard with food and shopping, a Gen Z Republik section, a family Christmas grotto and a VIP preview night, although dates for these have not been shared.

Vendors can also apply for boulevard stalls until October 31, 2026, according to The Rio Times. So, if you run a food or fashion brand, that deadline matters. Last year’s edition drew more than 40,000 people, per Voice of Nigeria, which shows why the demand is high.

A Quick Look at Detty December

If you are new to the term, Detty December is Nigeria’s festive season, when people at home and in the diaspora return for concerts, parties and weddings. Wikipedia’s overview notes that its origin is unclear, and that Livespot360 says it trademarked the phrase in 2019. For a wider look at the season, read our Detty December guide.

Because the season is crowded, Wizkid’s night is only one option. According to Wikipedia, other regular December fixtures include Flytime Fest and the Calabar Carnival, so you can build a longer trip around several events.

How to Plan Your Trip

First, decide which ticket fits your budget, because the gap between ₦50,000 and ₦300,000 is large. General access is the cheapest way in, while the golden circle and VIP standing offer a closer view.

Next, book flights and stays early. The Rio Times warns of heavy island traffic in late December, so leave early on opening night and plan your ride home before the show ends. Finally, check the official page for gate and bag rules, which had not been published at the time of writing. The Eagle Online also carried the opening-night announcement, so you can compare reports if details change.

Also, keep your budget realistic. Beyond the ticket, you will likely spend on transport, food and a place to stay in a busy city, and prices tend to rise in December. So, set a total figure early and keep a small reserve for last-minute costs, instead of looking only at the ticket price.

Detty December Fest 2026 has its headliner, its dates and its prices for night one. Everything else is still loading. So, bookmark the official page, watch for the November reveals and share this guide with the friend who always asks, “Who’s performing?”
