If you are flying from New York to Lagos this December, there may be good news. Delta Air Lines is planning a daily nonstop between New York JFK and Lagos from December 1, 2026. However, “planned” is the key word, so here is what is confirmed, what is not and what to check before you book.

It was reported on October 24 that Delta plans a daily JFK–Lagos service starting Tuesday, December 1, 2026, using an Airbus A330-900neo. The schedule comes from an Aviation A2Z summary of Delta’s winter 2026 changes, published May 6, and a FlightsFrom listing.

What Is Not Confirmed Yet

Importantly, The Rio Times says it found no Delta announcement. So, these details are still open:

• Fares: Delta has not confirmed any prices.

• End date: No finish date has been published, so you cannot assume the flight runs into January.

• Departure times: None were given.

Because of this, treat the route as planned until Delta confirms it. Also, schedules can change, so please check Delta’s own booking page before you pay for anything.

Is This the First Time Delta Has Done This?

No. Delta has run seasonal New York–Lagos flights before, which makes the 2026 plan believable. It has also been reported in November 2024 that Delta would fly JFK–Lagos daily from December 2 through March 28 on an A330-200.

Then, Delta flew a six-week seasonal service from December 2, 2025, to January 16, 2026, on the A330-900neo. Delta says it saw strong holiday demand from Nigerians. Meanwhile, its Lagos–Atlanta flight runs daily and year-round.

What Will It Be Like Onboard?

The 2026 cabin layout has not been published. However, Delta’s own news site says last season’s A330-900neo had Delta One Suites with lie-flat seats, plus Delta Premium Select and Main cabins and individual entertainment. It offers Nollywood titles, and free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members.

So, if Delta uses the same aircraft, expect something similar. Still, confirm the cabin when you book.

• Compare options: Check the days around your date, because a one-day shift can change a fare a lot.

• Keep a backup: Hold a refundable alternative, such as a connecting flight, until Delta confirms.

• Book your stay now: Short-lets and hotels fill early, whatever happens with the flight.

Lagos Airport Tips for December

Also, plan for the Lagos end. Terminal 1 is being rebuilt, a temporary departure hall is in use, and check-in locations have moved. It is advised to arrive three to four hours before departure and confirm your terminal with your airline.

It is also warned that domestic carriers threatened on September 23 to halt flights if unions blockade the airport again, so watch for strike notices.
