It was supposed to be a traditional wedding. However, by Sunday morning, Zlatan Ibile and Davita Lamai’s ceremony had become the most talked-about event on Nigerian social media. From coral beads to flying dollars, here is what happened, and what Nigerians are saying.
When and Where Did Zlatan Marry Davita?
The couple held their traditional wedding on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Lagos, they shared their pre-wedding portraits that morning. News Ghana places the event in Oniru, although other outlets did not name a venue.
Zlatan, whose real name is Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, announced the date on October 9 in a pre-wedding video. Meanwhile, It been reported that the couple share two sons, Shiloh, born in 2020, and Benaiah, born in November 2024.

The Outfits: Why Nigerians Called Them “Regal”
The look is what people noticed first. Zlatan and Davita posted studio portraits in traditional Benin attire, with coral beads front and centre. Davita wore a deep red, beaded off-shoulder gown, a multi-strand coral necklace, matching earrings and a veiled headpiece.
Zlatan wore a white outfit with red bead fringe, layered coral necklaces, a white cap and, in some photos, a carved staff. One commenter wrote, “They look sooooooo regal.”
However, the style did not stop there. The couple also changed into Yoruba-inspired embroidered outfits for a second look, with bridesmaids and groomsmen. The wedding was tagged #DTTheUnion.
Davido as Groomsman
Importantly, Davido did not attend as a casual guest, he stood as a groomsman, posing with the others in matching Benin-style outfits.
He also joined Zlatan in the Ìdọ̀bálẹ̀, the traditional prostration before the bride’s parents. The ritual is part of the Ìtọrọ, the process in which the groom’s side formally asks for the bride. Video of Davido going down without hesitation spread widely, and one fan said it made celebrities seem less like “demigods.”
Moreover, a lighter moment also trended. When Davido was asked about his favourite meal in a sideline interview, he answered, “Chioma Adeleke,” the name of his wife.
The Money: Dollars, a Vault and a Mystery Man
Then came the spraying. Davido was seen spraying US dollars on Zlatan and Davita during the peak of the party. Days earlier, he had posted Instagram Story images of stacked dollars and called the weekend a “heavy weekend for my bestie.”
Meanwhile, content creator OGB Recent arrived with a vault of cash, including bundles of naira and dollars, and dropped it for the newlyweds.
A third video also went viral. A man whose identity has not been revealed showered actress Iyabo Ojo with “multiple thick stacks” of naira. Online users nicknamed him the “mystery man.”
Who Else Was There?
Reports name several guests, although no official guest list was published. ITV Radio lists Davido, Bella Shmurda, Fola, Eniola Badmus, Seyi Vodi, Phyno, Iyabo Ojo and Enioluwa. News Ghana adds K1 De Ultimate, Don Jazzy, Teni and Cubana Chief Priest, some of them as reported sightings.
So, treat the names as reported, not confirmed, unless you see them in the couple’s own posts.
How They Got Here
The road to October 24 was quiet. Within Nigeria says that in early 2026, Zlatan denied online marriage claims and said Davita was not yet his wife. Reports also claim they held a small private civil ceremony in December 2025, but the couple never publicly confirmed it.
In July, Teni announced the upcoming wedding while travelling to another event. Then, on October 9, Zlatan made it official.
Why Everyone Is Talking
There are three reasons. First, the culture: coral beads, Benin and Yoruba attire and a formal ritual made for beautiful photos. Second, the star power, because Davido’s role gave every clip an audience. Third, the cash, which always starts a debate in Nigeria.
