EVERY CREATOR SHOULD BE ON PINCHED (HERE IS WHY)

There is a lot happening around African creators right now, but not enough infrastructure built around the people actually making the work. Pinched is beginning to change that, starting with the creators themselves.

EVERY CREATOR SHOULD BE ON PINCHED (HERE IS WHY)

In short

Every creator should consider joining Pinched because it's a new Africa-focused platform designed to provide infrastructure for creators to connect with, build, and monetize their audience more directly and meaningfully.

The Pinch Network

There is a lot happening in the African creative space. Every day, someone is making a film, recording a song, starting a podcast, documenting their city, writing a story, designing something, sharing an idea or building an audience around something they genuinely care about. The creativity is there. The audiences are there too.

What has often been missing is the infrastructure to properly connect the two.

Most creators have become very good at publishing. They know how to post, how to build a following and how to keep an audience interested. But having people watch your work is not always the same thing as having a meaningful relationship with the people watching it.

That is the space Pinched is interested in. Pinched is being built as an Africa-focused platform for creators and the people who follow their work, with a simple idea at its centre: good content should have a way to create value for the person who made it and the person who chooses to support it.

The platform is built around three things — authentic storytelling, micro-contribution and exclusive content.

It is a different way of thinking about what happens between a creator and an audience.

Instead of every piece of content being thrown into an endless feed and immediately competing for the next person's attention, Pinched is creating room for content to be discovered, appreciated and supported more intentionally. Sometimes that support can be as simple as a small contribution. Sometimes it can be access to something exclusive. Sometimes it is simply finding a creator whose work you want to keep following. The important thing is that the relationship becomes more direct. And we want creators to understand that from the beginning.

STARTING WITH THE CREATORS

Before Pinched becomes a place filled with thousands of creators and millions of pieces of content, we want to start with the people who will make the platform what it is. That is why we are opening up our Live Creator Onboarding session.

It is an opportunity for creators to come and see what Pinched is about, understand how the platform works, ask questions and learn how to set up their creator page. You do not need to know everything about Pinched before joining the session. In fact, that is exactly what the session is for. We want to introduce the platform properly and show creators where they fit into what we are building.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Africa does not have a shortage of creative talent. What we need are more systems that allow that talent to grow.

A creator should not have to become a celebrity before their work can have value. A filmmaker should be able to find an audience for a film. A storyteller should be able to build a community around their stories. A niche creator should be able to find the people who care about what they do. And audiences should have more ways to support the creators whose work they enjoy.

That is the bigger conversation behind Pinched. We are building for African creators, but we are also thinking about the millions of people who consume African stories, music, film, culture, ideas and creativity from Lagos to Nairobi, Accra to Johannesburg, London to New York and everywhere in between. This is still the beginning. Which is why getting creators involved now matters.
