In an exclusive interview with PINCHED, the Nigerian creator behind “diplomatic ideas” explains why he left large-cast skits for solo storytelling, why he refuses to spend heavily on content, and what starting taught him about discipline.
Picture a video where a man lies down in the middle of a road. The plan? Raise funds, open a platform and raise billions. By the creator’s own admission, none of that is possible, and that is exactly the point.
The video belongs to Diplomath, a Nigerian creator whose relatable imagination content has grown to more than 250,000 followers. “I think my focus, my content are mainly focused on exaggerated fantasy,” he told PINCHED in an exclusive interview, describing the creative way he tells relatable stories.
However, the story behind those numbers is not about overnight luck. It is about a creator who moved away from what he loved making, because his audience clearly wanted something else.
We sat down with the creator behind the stage name, to talk about how it all started, and what it actually takes to build a niche nobody else was doing.
Who Is Diplomath?
Diplomath is the stage name of Nweze Kenechukwu, a Nigerian digital creator, Influencer and Video Editor who specialises in exaggerated, imagination-based storytelling. His scripts present impossible business ideas and scenarios as if they were perfectly reasonable.
Before content took over, much of his life revolved around education. He describes the past six years or so as mainly focused on school, and his content journey began around the time he gained admission, eventually graduating from the Federal Institute of Technology.
Officially, he started in 2022. However, he says he made “one or two little videos” as far back as 2019. The first set of videos he posted dates to 2022. So, in his words, it is about four years officially, and six or seven years unofficially.
How He Found His Niche
Interestingly, imagination was not his first choice. He admits it is not something he always had in mind, and he still prefers making regular skits.
What changed his mind was originality. He points out that if someone shows up in an AI suit and performs robot moves, people will instantly connect that creator to a famous character. A recognisable lane is powerful, and he wanted one of his own.
So he crafted his scripts around his own identity. Over time, repeated posting paid off, and he now feels his audience has linked the style to him. “Whenever you think imagination, whenever you think exaggerated, whenever you think crazy business ideas, you already think Diplomath,” he says. Some viewers even call the series “diplomatic ideas.”
Equally important, the numbers backed it up. He noticed that his audience enjoyed the imagination content more than the skits he personally prefers. According to him, he “developed into this niche” because he stays creative and open to growth.
From Skits With 12 People to a Tripod and a Phone
Kenechukwu did not begin with imagination content. In 2021 and 2022, he preferred regular sketch comedy, with multiple characters, different roles and plenty of action. He even explored acting as a native doctor.
Those productions were demanding. Before shooting, he would inform his friends about a week earlier, and each skit needed anywhere from three to ten people. Some needed up to 12, because they involved several settings.
On top of that, he had to handle the logistics himself:
Arranging the venue
Preparing all the materials needed
Organising the cast and covering expenses
Rescheduling whenever an important cast member did not show up
Meanwhile, he had no budget, because he was making the videos for the love of it. Editing also took a long time, so in a very good week he could post only about two videos.
Today, the picture is very different. With a tripod and a mobile device, he only needs to go out and shoot, and the rest is up to him. He says he could upload seven times a week, or even daily, if he stays disciplined.
He also makes a point about consistency. In his view, it is more than frequency, and it keeps evolving.
Where the Ideas Come From
So where does a mind like this get its material? Mostly from input. He feeds his mind with a wide range of information, because he believes in knowing something about everything.
He watches a lot of movies
He listens to many kinds of songs
He explores content his friends find weird or cringe
“I cannot know everything there is about everything, but I like to explore,” he says. He adds that God gave him a creative mind, and that his ideas come naturally when he sits down to write.
How an Impossible Idea Is Built
Here is the secret behind the videos. Kenechukwu deliberately removes the risks. When he writes a business idea, he touches only the surface, strips away every challenge and stays positive about it, so everything looks rosy.
Because of that approach, he says there is little chance of anyone actually turning those ideas into real businesses. Take his video about deleted photos and videos. After Apple devices delete content, he asks, why not create a platform or database that stores it and sell it to the highest bidder? Of course, privacy and access make that impractical, so he simply eliminated those problems on screen.
Still, a part of his audience takes inspiration. People in business sometimes see new lines they could pursue. However, most viewers simply come for a lighter mood.
The Hardest Part Nobody Sees
From the outside, the videos look effortless. Yet he says the hardest part is not what viewers might expect.
You might assume constantly scouting new locations would be his biggest challenge, however he says it isn't.
Visiting locations is actually something he enjoys. He likes going to different places so his content never looks lazy or repeated in one spot. What actually drains him is editing. Although his style is easy to edit, repeating the same task again and again is exhausting, especially because he gets bored with repetitive work.
Meanwhile, the idea, the locations and the details in each script keep things fresh for viewers. The editing, he says, always stays the same.
Why He Refuses to Invest Heavily
Has he ever thought of quitting? His answer is no. He started creating because he enjoys making people laugh and brightening their day.
He also does not pour large amounts of money into content. The reason is simple, and it is one of the most quotable moments of the interview: “When there is investment, there is expectation.” In other words, the more you invest, the more pressure you feel.
Because he has few financial commitments, he says there is very little chance of withdrawing. He uploads on his own schedule, and when he wants to post soon, he simply makes arrangements and shoots.

What this Journey Taught Him About Himself
Looking back, he says the work revealed something he didn't expect, real discipline. "I've always thought I wasn't a disciplined person," he admitted. "But seeing myself take this seriously, with nobody tracking me or pushing me, showed me I actually can be."
Yet, with nobody tracking him or pushing him, he has taken his content journey seriously. That showed him that he can, in fact, be a disciplined person.
The Real Numbers Behind the Growth
Diplomath now has more than 250,000 followers across Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. He says TikTok is his largest platform at about 230,000.
He did other kinds of content from 2022 until around 2025. Then, around mid-2025, he switched to imagination content, and he credits creative ideas, consistency, new locations and openness to trying something outside his original skills.
He puts the growth down to being open to something new and, above all, to starting. Without starting, he argues, none of it would have happened.
What He Wants Viewers to Feel
Beyond laughs, is there a message? Diplomath keeps it simple. He wants people to leave his page happier than they arrived. He eliminates every risk and challenge so the ideas feel light. For most of his audience, that lightness is the whole purpose.
What Is Next for Diplomath?
Looking ahead, he is interested in two things:
Live performance: He hopes to bring his imaginative concepts to a live stage, although he says it is still only an idea and he has not started formal research. He has asked a number of people for input.
Collaborations: He wants to work with other creators to reach more audiences
As for other projects, he says most of what he is working on is still at an early stage, so he is not ready to share details.
His Advice: Start Before You Are Ready
Asked what he'd tell someone with big imaginations who hasn't figured out how to use it yet, his answer is direct.
Start.
There's a lot I didn't know I had the capacity for until I started," he said. "You can't know what's ahead if you don't start. You don't know what you've missed if you never try.”
Diplomath did not set out to be the face of exaggerated business ideas. He tried skits, struggled with logistics, noticed what his audience loved and followed the signal. Now, with a tripod, a phone and a head full of impossible plans, he is still going. And if he has his way, the next idea might just make it to a live stage.
