Olamide Explores His Artist Side While Waiting for His Artiste Side.

Olamide is exploring visual art with “Alagemomerindinlogun by Olamide,” offering a glimpse at the creative mind behind one of Nigeria’s most recognisable music careers.

Olamide has spent years making people listen. This time, he is asking them to look.

The YBNL boss has stepped into visual art with “Alagemomerindinlogun by Olamide,” introducing a different form of creative expression from the one audiences have known him for most of his career. Just Olamide, a canvas and another way to say something. And perhaps that is what makes the move interesting.

The artist before the artiste

There is a neat irony in watching one of Nigeria's most recognizable artistes explore being an artist. Olamide has spent much of his career being defined by music. The rapper, songwriter, performer and YBNL founder has built a world around sound, language and culture. But those things have always required imagination first. That same instinct can exist outside a recording studio.

“Alagemomerindinlogun by Olamide” gives that instinct another place to live.

The visual-art project doesn't need to compete with his music. It simply gives us another way of seeing the person who makes it.

Olamide, but in a different medium

There is something naturally familiar about musicians crossing into other creative disciplines. Hip-hop has never been only about the music. Its culture has always found expression through clothing, photography, graffiti, design, film and visual art. The boundaries between the disciplines have often been deliberately blurred. Olamide's move into visual art fits into that wider creative tradition, but it also feels personal.

For someone whose career has been so closely connected to identity and self-expression, picking up another medium feels less like a reinvention and more like an expansion. The difference is that this time, he isn't asking us to hear the idea. He is asking us to see it.

Fans should probably expect Olamide to treat this as an exploration rather than a departure from music. “Alagemomerindinlogun by Olamide” opens the door to a side of his creativity they have not traditionally encountered, and it will be interesting to see whether this first step remains a one-off expression or grows into a wider body of visual work. For now, the intrigue is simply in seeing what Olamide looks like when the microphone is put down and the canvas takes its place.
