BNXN Confirms New EP Still In Charge, With Asake and FOLA, Out Thursday

BNXN has confirmed that his new EP, Still In Charge, will be released on Thursday, 1st October, with Asake and FOLA as its featured guests. The singer announced the title, the two guests and the Thursday release date in a social media post on 29th September, Notjustok reports. The full tracklist and production credits have not yet been revealed.

How the Rollout Has Unfolded

Still In Charge has been in the works for most of the year. In July, BNXN released "Eja Meja," his first official collaboration with Asake, as the EP's opening track, Afrobeats Magazine reported. At the time the EP was described as a six-track project, and its release date has since moved to October. "'Eja Meja' is a reminder to enjoy life and stay present," BNXN said then. "We all go through challenges, but this record is about choosing joy."

In September he followed with "Online," a surprise single released through T.Y.E and EMPIRE with a music video, which DancehallMag described as a bridge to keep listeners engaged ahead of the EP.

Where BNXN Is Coming From

BNXN, born Daniel Etiese Benson in Lagos and formerly known as Buju, changed his stage name in 2022, according to Wikipedia. His catalogue includes the EPs Sorry I'm Late and Bad Since '97, the joint project RnB with Ruger, and the albums Sincerely, Benson and Captain. Afrobeats Magazine notes that his collaborative EP with Sarz, The Game Needs Us, topped Apple Music Nigeria's albums chart, and that "Back Outside" passed 105 million streams and reached number one on Apple Music Nigeria's Top 100, part of more than 4 billion career streams.
